Stuart Alexander Productions’ LED Lights Offer 82% Energy Savings and Ambiance
Future brides and grooms, wedding planners, personal assistants, and more probably don’t think about LED lighting for weddings and other events in the planning process, but it can make a huge difference in overall ambience… while conserving energy and costs.
Stuart Alexander Productions, a complete event service, used LEDs to provide better lighting for their customers while cutting costs and conserving energy. Here is their story…

When we acquired a historic building in Downtown Des Moines, our mission was clear… create an experience for our clients that encompasses every aspect of the event we are being hired for – venue, planning, décor, catering, photography, DJ services, lighting, and staging.
When your client assigns you with the role that single handedly makes or breaks the most important day of their life, every detail matters.
When we created an all-inclusive event space, we found ourselves in the market for lights. We understood the efficiency and savings benefits of LED lighting.
However, our bigger objective was whether we could capture the aesthetic feel needed for the ambience necessary to truly create an exquisite experience for our clients.
We brought Collette, a seasoned LED lighting specialist, in to assess our building. She provided us with a consultation on whether LED lighting was a viable option and could meet our needs on both a functional and aesthetics level.
The first step of the project was to divide the different spaces of our building by their function and assess the LED light needs for those spaces. In our office spaces and warehouse, we replaced the existing fluorescent T12 lamps with LED vapor tight linear fixtures.
The vapor tights not only provided us with functional lighting for those spaces, but also reduced our energy load by 82%, making the lighting energy savings each month a welcome added bonus.
In addition, we added sensors to the warehouse area.
Without any hassle, this allowed us to use the lights when occupying the space and save energy when not using the warehouse. In the upstairs area of our buildings where we host our events, aesthetics became a much bigger focus for us.
We were able to utilize the functionality of the vapor tights we used in the rest of our building but placed the vapor tights in the wood ceiling where they would physically be out of sight.
Furthermore, we chose the dimmable option to allow us the luxury to control the light intensity for aesthetic purposes during events.
This feature also allows us greater flexibility with the ambience as we create venue experiences tailored to our clients.
To further enhance the venue experience, we added LED Edison lamps throughout our hosting area that visually create a sense of intimacy.
